More sweet crochet

Remember this post? I forgot to show you all the finished cupcake. So here it is.

Whenever N. asks me to make something for her, I let her choose the color combination and the style. She's never asked for anything crazy yet, thankfully. Even though I'm making it, I want her to start thinking about the colors and how they go together. And I want her to be able to make her own choices (within reason).

But sometimes I feel like I'm creating a little monster, she's become so particular about clothes and shoes...

What about you? How much choice do you think younger children should be able to have in their daily life? Is it different in the domain of aesthetics?

Spring dreamin'

I'm not sure if it's the pregnancy or the teasers that we've had for the past weeks, but I'm craving a little spring sunshine. Really.

Everywhere I see reminders that it's coming too: tulips in the nursery nearby, seeds and gardening supplies at the seasonal aisle in the grocery store, and the tinsiest ray of sun peaking through the clouds.

I couldn't resist and brought some spring into the house. Until real spring comes and they can fill my pots and garden, I'll just keep putting flowers on the table (along with the cupcakes).

How close are you to getting spring?

Confession

I have a confession.

I've been sick, exhausted, and barely keeping up with our daily routine. But... I shouldn't complain too much.

There is a good reason for it: We have a new Ricefield baby on the way.

Yep. I'm pregnant and just getting over the first trimester. Looking forward to having a bit more energy, but it doesn't like it's getting better any time soon. I'm not going to lie, pregnancy doesn't make me glow or thrive. It makes me sick. But yes, the end result is more than worth it, so all's good.

We're due in August by the way.

Other than that... We had a good valentine's day with pink cupcakes and origami boxes with treats for N.'s friends and teachers.

Ok, hit me with your good news.
